For today’s edition of foodie finds fitness Friday, I wanted to share a new fitness blog with you!One of the great things about blogging is that you get to connect with so many new people all over the world! A couple of weeks ago, I was contacted by a reader who also happens to have his own fitness blog called Body for Tomorrow. Of course, the first thing I did was go check out his blog. 🙂 Dave is a weight loss success story who is passionate about sharing his knowledge about healthy living with others. The one thing I really like about his site is that he keeps things simple. To stay fit and functional for an entire lifetime doesn’t involve an expensive gym membership or running marathons. It simply requires you to get moving! Here’s how Dave puts it in his post, “Can You Find Your Motivation?”:
“One of the most frustrating things for people starting out (or even veterans) is lack of interest in what they “have” to do when exercising. Here’s a news flash, you don’t HAVE to do whatever it is you think you do! Well, okay, you do HAVE to exercise and eat healthy but you don’t HAVE to run on the treadmill or do 3 sets of 12 repetitions on the bench press if it’s not something that stimulates you. Is it beneficial for you? Darn tootin! (if done properly) but if you aren’t enjoying it you won’t do it for long. And if you stop doing it how good will it be for you then?!”
His motto, “be the difference” is such a pertinent one to both fitness and nutrition! One of the biggest obstacles I have often faced as a dietitian is helping patient’s embrace their own need for change. Until they can “be the difference” and start making healthier choices, you can talk about the need for a healthy lifestyle until you are blue in the face and it won’t make any difference. Hence, the wisdom of Dave’s “be the difference” motto! Claim responsibility for your own health and do something about it.
